Learning to drive is a highly complex skill that requires not just the ability to operate a vehicle, but also mental focus and the understanding of physics to drive a vehicle safely. Not all drivers automatically know how to apply these skills upon gaining a driver licence.

Studies have shown most new licence holders require approximately 20hours of professional driving instructor lessons, to gain confidence in controlling a vehicle, refine driving co-ordination to demonstrate and accordingly react on hazard detection. This would differ between individuals that have more skills and experience at being comfortable at driving.

In a vehicle with an automatic transmission, some can learn basic driving within a day. However, in a car with a manual transmission, it could take at least two days to learn basic driving.

We recommend that beginner drivers learn in a Automatic transmission to refine their skills before controlling a Manual transmission if they desire to.
